Hand Sanitizers are a group of products that are designed to provide a quick and easy way to clean hands from germs and bacteria, without the need to wash hands. These products can be in a form of gel, liquid, wipes and form. You should find the type that you are most comfortable with. How does it kill the germs and viruses?

The key ingredient in most hand sanitizers is alcohol, ethyl alcohol (also called ethanol), isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol), that kills the germs and bacteria. Disease causing germs, also known as pathogens are killed by alcohol on the skin surface. The concentration of alcohol ranges from 60% to 90% in most hand Sanitiser products, with the most common concentration being 70%. There are also alcohol-free products available that contain benzalkonium chloride as a disinfectant agent. However, the most widely used hand Sanitiser products are alcohol based. Most hand sanitizers also contain Aloe Vera which is a moisturizing agent to help protect your skin.

How to use a hand Sanitiser?

It is really important that you use hand sanitizing products in the correct way to get maximum protection. Pour sufficient amount of hand Sanitiser gel/liquid into the palm of your hand and rub the hand Sanitiser all over your hands, making sure to get between your fingers and the back of your hands. You should not wipe or rinse off the hand Sanitiser before it is dry, unless instructed differently on the product. If your hands are greasy or have visible dirt on them then you should wash your hands with water and soap.
